Mastery Starts with the Courage to Suck
It’s easy to look at someone who’s great at what they do and assume they’ve always been that good.
But here’s the truth: talent isn’t a gift—it’s built in the trenches, through grit and persistence.
Think about any skill you’ve mastered. Writing, coding, singing—it wasn’t smooth sailing from day one.
There’s always that awkward phase where you’re not good, where frustration creeps in, and you wonder if you’ll ever get there.
But if you stick with it long enough, push through the stumbles and those “I can’t do this” days, things start to click.
You’ll suck at it for a while, and that’s completely fine.
In fact, we need to embrace, encourage, and normalize this process.
Mastery doesn’t come from avoiding discomfort—it’s born in it.
The only way forward is through the struggle—being terrible at something until you’re not anymore.
So, are you willing to suck at something long enough to get good?
